CORE Will Hook Up Your Classroom With Textbooks

CORE member Joyce Sia unloads a trunk full of relocated history texts.

With school book budgets severely cut this year, many classrooms are looking for books.   One source of books often overlooked by teachers struggling to find required texts for their classroom is the Illinois Textbook Relocation Program.   Download one of the spreadsheets below, contact the schools, and the books will be ready for pick-up.

Recently, CORE co-chair Jackson Potter found much needed history textbooks for his class from Hinsdale South High Scool. According to Potter, “All a teacher has to do is call the school listed, explain they are in CPS and would like to pick up some books for their classroom and ask if they are still available.  It may take a few phone calls, but within a week I was invited to take my pick of the available books that Hinsdale South had in Storage.  I drove to the school and a staff member helped me load the books into my car.”

CORE member Joyce Sia,

CORE is teachers advocating for students; from fixing the CTU right down to hooking up schools with free textbooks!”
